CDC

A clearer system for public health information

With more than 200,000 pages and 1,700 health communicators, CDC.gov needed shared structures that could serve the public, healthcare providers and public health professionals. I helped create the models and standards behind that system.

Before: competing content blocks and a less consistent hierarchy.

After: a clear audience label, key points and a more consistent page structure.

Model the content

I built reusable content structures so health topics could follow consistent patterns.

Connect three audiences

I worked on page, URL and navigation standards within one information system.

Support the people publishing

CMS structure, guidance and training helped communicators apply the standards.

Broader rebuild outcome

The portfolio reports about 65% of content reduced or removed. This is a program-level result of the CDC.gov rebuild, not an individual attribution.
